W.G. Rowan (McKissack and Rowan), 1875-9.

W G Rowan (of McKissack and Rowan), 1875-9 as a Free church, latterly Pollokshields West Church. Thomsonesque Greek, and on corner site; lofty square tower at corner (like Thomson's towers) has walls mainly blank below decorative top stage, open-worked domed lantern raised above; 3 elevations of body of church have Ionic portico raised above podium (again, an arrangement favoured by Thomson). Polished ashlar, slate roofs, pediments with anthemion finials; shallow Doric portico to Shields Road with triple doorway; square-ended chancel not original (?1923). Interior remodelled 1923; stained glass panels by Alfred Webster and Nina Millar Davidson. Stone-built boundary wall has piers with Egypto-Greek ornament.
